Infrastrcture Programme
Water & Irregation Projects :
The action plan for the programmes &
projects included in the 2008 government
budget and also the concerned authorities to
prepare the programs and projects for the
year 2008
–
2011 in accordance with the financial
allocation proposed for the Agricultural
Revival Programme.
The irrigated projects for which financial
allocations are budgeted in 2008 include the
upper & lower gates of Roseris Dam, the
Nubian Sand Aquifer & rehabilitation of
Rahad Scheme,irrigation infrastructure,
rehabilitation of supplementary pumps in
Kashm Al Girba, use of x-ray techniques in
the development of water techniques;
heightening of Roseries Dam, rehabilitation
of the Gezira & other irrigated schemes
infrastructure, rehabilitation of Tokar
Delta in the Red Sea State, rehabilitation
of Khartoum projects, grouping &
electrification of Blue Nile & White Nile
Schemes in addition to Eastern Nile Basin
projects. The total financial allocations
amount to 248 million SDG.

The
Agricultural Revival Program emphasized the
development & up grading of agricultural &
water system through;
•
Razing of the efficiency of the existing
irrigated schemes by applying irrigation
management & systems rationalizing water use
, developing field irrigation, crop
intensification and integrating plant and
animal production with conservation of
forests and pastures
•
Introducing modern types of animal and
fishery production such as intensive rain
fed and irrigated pasture farms ranches
aquaculture, as well as establishing wild
life reserves.
•
The total of the agricultural program during
2008
–
2011 estimated at 10.1 billion SDG for 2008,
in addition to 2.5 billion for 2009, and
same amount for 2010, and finally 207
billion SDG for 2011.
•
The total finance of the program amounts to
2905.1 million SDG during 2008 and will rise
gradually to reach 3422.7 billion SDG for
2011.This include governmental contribution,
foreign, bank lending and self
–
financing in addition to the agricultural
seasons subsidies.
The program emphasized the role of the
private sector in achieving the objectives
of the Agricultural Revival in its
participation in the implementation the
programs & projects.
The role of the private sector has been
enhanced by the favorable economic polices.

Making national use of the huge and diverse
resources of the Sudan has been unfulfilled
promise and outstanding challenge since the
early days of independence; successive plans
& strategies to develop agriculture and
water resources have been implemented
